Commute Made More Pleasant and Productive with Essential Oils

Have you ever calculated your commute by the number of hours it involves during a year? Unless you work at home, the number can be huge! But what if this time could be more pleasant, profitable, and productive? Essential oils can help make your commute much more profitable.

When you would like some productive THINKING time.
Inhale an essential oil that studies have shown to improve mental accuracy. This includes lemon, peppermint, jasmine, and even essential oil blends of Clarity or Brain Power that have been designed for this purpose.

When you would like some CREATIVE time.
Whether it is planning your day, trying to think of pressing projects from a new perspective, or developing entirely new ideas, certain essential oils seem to foster inspiration and creativity. These include frankincense, cedarwood, spruce, sandalwood, myrtle and a number of others. I also like the Inspiration blend.

When you or your fellow commuters are not the most agreeable people.
I like to keep conifer essential oils like balsam fir on hand because it seems to always improve my mood and the mood of anyone who smells it. Other oils that are used for this purpose include frankincense, rose, geranium, ylang ylang, and the Harmony blend.

What if your fellow commuters are coughing and sneezing?
I put the Thieves blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus radiata, and rosemary on the soles of my feet before leaving home. Why? Because this combination of oils contains compounds that are antibacterial, antifungal, anti-infectious, antimicrobial, antiviral, and more.

When you encounter TRAFFIC PROBLEMS.
Pull out that Idaho balsam fir again! Or perhaps you are already wearing it as a cologne. Other calming essential oils include conifers in general, frankincense, rose, geranium, and the Peace & Calming and Egyptian Gold blends.

To relax and unwind on the way home.
Once again, pull out that balsam fir or any of the oils mentioned above.

So how specifically can people use essential oils for their commute?

1. Inhale directly from the bottle.
Some people like to carry the original 5 millimeter or 15 millimeter bottles, and other people like to pour part of the oil into small 5/8 dram bottles.

2. Inhale from an inhaler.
You will find different sorts of inhalers online. Each comes with its own wick onto which you pour several drops of the essential oil of your choice.

3. Wear as a cologne or perfume.
When you are using a therapeutic grade of essential oil, you could even be getting health benefits for body and mind.

4. Put a drop on the corner of your handkerchief.
This in much less conspicuous than getting out an oil bottle or an inhaler in the presence of others.

5. Put on the soles of your feet before leaving home in the morning.
Why? Because if you put on certain immune-building blends of essential oils, you have more protection from the coughs, colds, and flu from others. The latest research shows that essential oils, when put on the soles of the feet, go into the blood stream within 3 seconds and to the cells of the entire body within 20 minutes.

6. Add to your car's air filtration system.
Some people use the small diffusers designed especially for cars, and other people have it added to the filter of their car's filtration system.

7. Add a drop to your water bottle.
This assumes that (a) you do not re-use your plastic water bottles, (b) that you are using only therapeutic grade essential oils, and (c) that you have consulted the Essential Oils Desk Reference regarding the oils you have chosen.

I hope that this information will help your commute go more smoothly. If you would like to learn more about how easy it is to incorporate essential oils into your life and begin getting their benefits, I invite you to explore the Essential Oils Information Center.
