Essential Oil Combinations - from the Practical to the Luxurious!
How many possible essential oil combinations are there? Probably as many as the stars in the sky! When people use EO combinations, or blends, they have usually come from one of three sources. 1. A company 2. A recipe in a book 3. Their own creativity
Essential Oil Combinations Made by a Company Most essential oil companies offer their own signature blends. Sometimes, you can tell what these blends are intended for by the name and other times not. For example, the "Peace & Calming" blend is pretty obvious, but the JuvaFlex blend is not. At the moment, Young Living offers more than 65 blends. They are listed at the bottom of this page. Recipes Using Essential Oils Many books offer their own essential oil recipes. The book I turn to first is the Essential Oils Desk Reference because it provides specific recipes for specific issues. One of the recipes that I mix on a regular basis is a vision-enhancing blend that my parents and I use. There are also recipes using essential oils in cooking. Experience has taught me that it is wise to limit the number of drops of oil to exactly that suggested by the recipe. Too much oregano and tarragon, for example, does not make for a tasty dish! Some recipes even suggest dipping a toothpick into the oil bottle and then swirling the toothpick in what is cooking. Make Your Own Essential Oil Combinations Creative people often have fun making their own blends. This usually begins after they've educated themselves a bit about essential oils. Sometimes they combine single oils and sometimes they combine a single oil with a blend, or even two blends. Why go down this path? 1. Create your own signature perfume or cologne. 2. You've been using a certain blend and you want to enhance its effects by adding a drop or more of one particular oil in the formula. This assumes you have consulted the EDR regarding the specific oils and their use. More detailed information about specific blends is coming soon. Each blend that is featured will cover (1) what the EDR says about it and (2) how people are using it. Below is the current list of the Young Living blends. I have marked my personal favorites with an asterisk.
