Essential Oil Companies

When I first became interested in essential oils, I asked my doctor about them and he told me that
1. They are used quite a bit in Europe, but not so much in the United States.
2. There's been a lot of research about them, again, mostly in Europe.
3. There were only two companies in the U.S. whose oils he trusted.

Since becoming more educated about essential oils, there are three companies whose essential oils products I trust above all others.

Young Living Essential Oils
This is one of the two companies my doctor recommended. Today, it is my first choice because of their high standards in quality. Some of their oils bear the AFNOR certification, and testing shows that their oils often exceed the AFNOR standards.

The Young Living Essential Oils are distributed through network marketing, which means that lots of valuable education is available to those who want it. There are seminars, meetings, travel seminars to Ecuador, and more. Every annual convention includes a farm day, where people can see the crops, harvesting, distillation, and packaging of the oils. There is even an opportunity to go to one of the U.S. farms to participate in the annual lavender harvest.

One of the things that makes Young Living different from all of the other essential oil companies is that they own their own organic farms in the United States, France, and Ecuador. In Ecuador, founder Gary Young is discovering new plants from Ecuador and the Amazon. He is distilling plants that have never before been distilled. Some of these plants are used by native shamans, but have had no formal botanical name before.

Some of the most ground-breaking essential oil research in the world today is coming out of Ecuador, where essential oils are now being used and researched increasingly in clinics, universities, and hospitals there. And who in the United States are going to have first access to these new essential oils? Young Living people.

This is only part of the picture. Another part is that the soil in Ecuador is so rich that when samples of individual oils are sent to France to be analyzed, the scientists there sometimes think that the sample is composed of multiple oils.

The Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy
This is headed by Dr. Kurt Schnaubelt. What I like best about this company is the quality and variety of their educational resources.

They offer books, seminars, courses, and educational travel seminars. Every educational product I have ordered from this site is exceptionally well organized and clearly presented. Two of Dr. Schnaubelt's books are included in the resource section of this website.

You know how many people thank of lavender as if there were just one kind of lavender? Young Living folks quickly learn the difference between lavender angustifolia and lavandin. However, the PIA offers a Complete Lavender Teaching Set which contains nine different types of lavender!

When neither Young Living nor Creer Labs have the oil I want, my next stop is the PIA.
